BCS Electrical & Building Services Ltd was appointed by the London Borough of Southwark to undertake the full rising and lateral mains upgrade at 1–35 Peter Butler House. The works were carried out as part of the council’s ongoing commitment to improving resident safety, reliability of supply, and compliance with BS 7671 and fire safety standards.
Scope of Works
- Installation of new rising and lateral mains using singles in trunking.
- Installation of new Ryefield distribution boards.
- Construction of a new brick-built electrical intake room with steel security doors and LBS specialist locks (delivered by our in-house building team).
- Coordination with UKPN and EDF to ensure minimal disruption on changeover day.
- Undersized incoming mains cable replaced – requiring excavation of the block-paved car park, with
- liaison to residents to manage disruption.
- All firestopping completed in-house by our BM Trada accredited operatives.
Resident Engagement
From the outset, BCS placed a strong emphasis on resident care:
- Residents were notified three weeks in advance of works.
- Regular updates were provided throughout the project.
- Our team identified and supported vulnerable residents, ensuring safety and reassurance.
- Works were planned and phased to keep inconvenience to an absolute minimum.
