BCS Electrical & Building Services Ltd was appointed by the London Borough of Southwark to deliver a full emergency lighting upgrade at 1–20 Broomfield House. The project formed part of the Council’s commitment to ensuring resident safety and compliance with current fire safety standards.
Scope of Works
- Installation of a new Thorlux SmartScan emergency lighting system throughout the block.
- Wiring carried out in galvanized conduit to provide durability and compliance with BS 7671.
- Installation of a new landlord’s distribution board to support the upgraded system.
- All firestopping requirements undertaken directly by BCS, using our BM Trada accredited team.
- Full on-site commissioning in conjunction with Thorlux technical engineers.
Resident Engagement
Our dedicated Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) worked closely with tenants throughout the works. This included providing regular updates, engaging with vulnerable residents to provide tailored support, and ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining high levels of resident satisfaction.

Outcome
